Senior DevOps Engineer (m/f/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join their collaborative engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to build and operate reliable cloud platforms while working at the intersection of development, operations, and architecture. You'll solve complex technical problems, shape cloud infrastructure decisions, and mentor engineers across the domain.

This is a remote position with optional access to office space in Düsseldorf, Germany.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to architectural decisions and make pragmatic trade-offs across reliability, scalability, security, and cost considerations
• Design, build, and operate secure, scalable, and maintainable cloud platforms and services on AWS
• Improve automation, infrastructure as code, deployment processes, observability, and operational efficiency
• Work with distributed software systems, event-driven architectures, and event streaming technologies
• Break complex initiatives into smaller workstreams and deliver value incrementally
• Investigate recurring issues and create lasting solutions rather than temporary fixes
• Share knowledge, mentor less experienced engineers, and promote collaboration and shared responsibility across teams
• Lead technical initiatives and take ownership of meaningful platform decisions

What We're Looking For

• Several years of professional experience in DevOps, platform engineering, SRE, or related fields
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS and cloud-native infrastructure
• Professional experience with Go (Golang), ideally for automation, platform tooling, or backend services
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, asynchronous processing, and event streaming
• Demonstrated expertise with automation, infrastructure as code, continuous delivery, observability, security, and reliability practices
• Ability to make sound architectural decisions and clearly explain technical trade-offs
• Track record of leading technical initiatives and delivering complex work incrementally
• Strong collaboration skills with experience mentoring colleagues and sharing knowledge
• Ownership mindset with commitment to continuous improvement and long-term solutions
