AI Engineer – Dealflow (m/w/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential private equity organization focused on software and technology investments in the DACH region. They are building a cutting-edge AI-powered dealflow engine to identify and engage with potential investment targets before traditional M&A processes begin. As an AI Engineer on this project, you will own the development and continuous improvement of the core product that drives their proprietary deal sourcing strategy.

This is a hands-on technical role where you'll bridge AI engineering with commercial deal origination. You'll work closely with leadership, investment professionals, and the data team to build scalable infrastructure for market mapping, outbound campaigns, and investment pipeline generation. From day one, you'll have significant ownership over a mission-critical function.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the AI product/tool that continuously populates the deal pipeline with software and technology companies in the DACH mid-market, iteratively improving it over time
• Develop and refine screening and prioritization logic for target companies, systematically improving match quality
• Expand automated data acquisition and enrichment capabilities to supplement targets with firmographic data and ownership structures
• Create logic and workflows to detect intent signals and potential selling interest among target companies
• Implement automated multichannel outreach and evolve the underlying processes
• Build dashboards and reports covering funnel metrics, activities, and conversion rates to support sourcing and pipeline reviews
• Evaluate new prospecting and sourcing tools while developing outreach sequences and messaging libraries

What We're Looking For

• Proven track record of building AI tools and automations that have been deployed in production environments—not just prototypes or demos
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience building AI-based products or tools
• Strong independent Python development skills with production deployment experience using Docker on Azure
• Practical hands-on experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Claude) and understanding of where they excel and where limitations exist
• Experience working with CRM data and deep understanding of data quality and structure requirements; knowledge of Pipedrive, agent systems, and frameworks like LangGraph is a plus
• Commercial mindset: you understand what makes a target relevant and measure yourself by tangible results
• Completed degree in Business Informatics, Data Science, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or comparable STEM field
• Fluent German and English language skills
