IT System Engineer (m/w/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential e-commerce organization in Berlin that is seeking an experienced IT System Engineer to take ownership of their Microsoft environment and drive digital transformation initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to not only manage IT systems but actively shape how modern technologies, automation, and digital processes are deployed across the organization.

Our client operates successfully in the digital marketplace sector, combining data-driven processes with a modern technology approach. You will work in Berlin's Lichtenberg district with a hybrid model offering 2 days of home office per week.

Responsibilities

• Administer and continuously develop the Microsoft 365 environment including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Intune, and Entra ID
• Manage Azure infrastructure including host pools, virtual networks, and storage accounts
• Oversee user accounts, groups, policies, and security roles while ensuring stable and secure IT infrastructure
• Coordinate technical onboarding and offboarding processes, including device provisioning, permissions management, and automation with Power Automate
• Monitor, maintain, and configure network infrastructure and administer Sophos XGS firewall including rules, remote access, and security policies
• Develop and implement business process automation using tools like Power Automate, Power Apps, or n8n from requirements gathering through production
• Build technical foundations for automation, interfaces, and connectors including governance and permissions concepts
• Deploy modern AI tools such as ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot to optimize internal processes and increase efficiency
• Provide 2nd and 3rd level support, lead IT projects, and develop IT standards, documentation, and security processes
• Support departments in using automation and AI tools through training, guidelines, and technical guidance

What We're Looking For

• Completed IT education, degree in system administration, or comparable qualification
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in system administration with experience independently operating an entire IT environment
• Strong expertise in Microsoft 365 technologies including Intune, Entra ID, Teams, Exchange Online, and SharePoint Online
• Approximately 2-3 years of practical experience with Microsoft Azure, particularly virtual machines, host pools, virtual networks, and storage accounts
• Solid knowledge of networking concepts including LAN, WLAN, VLAN, DHCP, and DNS
• Experience with Sophos firewalls, ideally the XGS series
• Proven experience developing process automation with Power Automate, Power Platform, n8n, or comparable tools
• Knowledge of PowerShell scripting, APIs, and webhooks
• Structured, self-reliant, and solution-oriented working style with the drive to advance projects independently
• Strong process understanding and ability to analyze requirements with business units and communicate technical solutions clearly
• Enthusiasm for knowledge sharing, supporting colleagues, and taking responsibility as a technical point of contact
• Fluent German language skills and good technical English

Position Details

Location: Berlin, Lichtenberg district, Germany
Work Model: Hybrid with 2 days home office per week
