QA Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential EdTech organization seeking a QA Engineer to join their growing quality assurance team. This is a fully remote position open to candidates globally, with a requirement for significant overlap with Central European Time (CET) working hours.

Our client is transitioning from legacy manual testing workflows to modern automated testing practices. You'll play a key role in this evolution, helping build reliable test automation using Playwright and TypeScript while maintaining pragmatic manual coverage where needed. This is an opportunity to shape testing strategy and processes as the QA team scales from 2 to 4 members.

Responsibilities

• Write and maintain automated regression tests using Playwright and TypeScript; review automation contributions from peers
• Execute manual testing across web interfaces including functional, regression, cross-platform, and responsive layout testing on mobile and tablet devices
• Create and maintain test cases, checklists, and comprehensive test documentation in TestRail
• File clear, actionable bug reports with detailed reproduction steps and collaborate with developers to triage and resolve issues
• Own the release testing process, coordinating with developers, running regression suites, and signing off on quality before bi-monthly releases
• Partner with product managers and designers on requirements review, edge case identification, and acceptance criteria definition
• Contribute to QA process improvements and help reduce dependency on last-minute manual regression cycles before releases
• Replace fragile manual workflows with stable automated suites that the entire engineering team can rely on

What We're Looking For

Required Skills and Experience:

• 2+ years of QA engineering experience with a focus on web UI testing
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with Playwright or similar test automation frameworks (Cypress, Selenium, Puppeteer)
• 2+ years of professional experience using TypeScript
• Strong test design skills with demonstrated ability to write and maintain test cases, checklists, and documentation
• Solid understanding of QA's role throughout the software development lifecycle and collaborative work with developers and product teams
• Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail
• Upper-intermediate English proficiency (B2+) for both written and spoken communication
• Proven experience in manual testing and writing manual test cases

Nice to Have:

• Experience with accessibility testing and/or security testing practices

Working Environment:

• Must have significant overlap with Central European Time (CET) working hours for team coordination
• Occasional synchronous meetings with stakeholders and developers in US timezones
• Async-friendly, documentation-first culture using Slack, Jira, GitLab, Notion, and Google Workspace
• Minimal meeting overhead: daily standups, sprint planning and retrospectives, regular 1:1s, and monthly engineering all-hands
