About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential European defence technology organization seeking a (Senior) Programme Associate to join their team in Munich or Berlin. Our client is building critical sovereign capabilities through advanced aerospace systems, operating as a small, elite team solving complex technical and operational challenges at pace.
This is not a traditional programme management role. You'll work directly on high-stakes defence programmes, translating customer requirements into executable plans while coordinating across engineering, commercial, and operational teams. The environment is talent-dense, fast-moving, and mission-critical.
Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day delivery of defence programmes, maintaining momentum across schedules, priorities, and execution workstreams
- Translate customer requirements and contractual inputs into clear plans, milestones, presentations, and actionable next steps
- Work directly with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders, supporting meetings, programme reviews, and delivery discussions
- Coordinate cross-functional teams across engineering, operations, business development, and external suppliers
- Track progress, risks, actions, and dependencies; identify issues early and drive resolution
- Conduct structured analysis to support programme, commercial, and strategic decisions
- Support commercial activities including delivery planning, customer reporting, change control, and proposal preparation
- Prepare clear, concise programme materials that enable fast decision-making
- Take ownership of defined workstreams and increasingly complex responsibilities as you develop
What We're Looking For
- At least 2-3 years of experience in management consulting, defence technology, aerospace, technology start-ups, or similarly demanding environments
- Fluent or native-level German and fluent English – this is a hard requirement for customer and stakeholder engagement
- Demonstrated ability to break down complex or ambiguous problems and turn analysis into practical action
- Strong written communication skills; ability to produce clear, well-structured materials
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities without losing attention to detail
- Comfortable interacting with senior stakeholders, customers, technical teams, and external partners
- Background in strategy, operations, engineering, technology, public policy, international relations, or similar disciplines (finance background not required)
- Motivated by responsibility, rapid progression, and visible impact rather than narrow task ownership
- Interest in defence, advanced technology, and European sovereign capability
- Preference for execution over pure analysis; you want to be close to real delivery, not confined to producing reports
