Ground Software Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential European aerospace organization working on advanced defense technology. Our talent team is seeking a Ground Software Engineer to join a highly technical, mission-focused environment in Munich.

This is a rare opportunity to work on operator-facing software that supports critical mission operations. You'll be building tools that engineers and operators depend on in real-world scenarios, not just demos or prototypes.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop ground software for mission preparation, execution, and monitoring of advanced aerospace systems
• Build robust, user-facing applications for Linux and Windows environments that support operators and engineers during live missions
• Implement high-performance C++ software with focus on reliability, usability, and maintainability
• Develop intuitive user interfaces and workflows to visualize system state, mission data, and operational status
• Integrate ground software with simulation, test, and live system interfaces to support end-to-end operations
• Collaborate with systems, guidance/navigation/control, test, and operations teams to translate mission needs into effective software tools
• Leverage UI frameworks (e.g., Qt) and mapping or visualization SDKs where appropriate

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of experience building ground or operator-facing software in aerospace, defense, or complex technical domains
• Strong proficiency in modern C++ with instinct for performance, robustness, and clean architecture
• Experience developing user-facing applications on Linux and Windows with understanding of operational reliability
• Deep care for operator experience, clarity, and usability in high-pressure environments
• Proven ability translating mission and system requirements into practical software tools
• Pragmatic approach to tooling, with exposure to UI frameworks such as Qt and interest in visualization or mapping technologies
• Comfort moving quickly in a fast-paced environment, balancing quality with delivery speed
• Motivation to build software that operators trust during real missions, not just prototypes
• Ability to work autonomously with high ownership and accountability
