Virtual Diagnostic Specialist – West

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential life sciences organization seeking a Virtual Diagnostic Specialist to cover the Western U.S. region. This remote role focuses on educating healthcare providers about genetic testing programs and initiatives through virtual and phone-based platforms. You'll serve as a diagnostic leader, building expertise in inherited retinal disease (IRD) genotyping while collaborating with laboratories, key opinion leaders, and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Educate appropriate healthcare providers on genetic testing initiatives and sponsored testing programs through remote engagement platforms
• Identify educational needs within the IRD healthcare community and provide targeted resources
• Deliver education on genetic laboratories performing high-quality gene analysis, IRD panels, and accurate results interpretation
• Partner compliantly with cross-functional teams to support U.S. diagnostic strategy development and implementation
• Identify and engage genetic testing Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) with educational needs related to testing programs
• Attend relevant conferences to deepen understanding of diagnostic programs and testing advancements
• Participate in advocacy, outreach, and engagement with local organizations where compliant
• Educate healthcare providers and internal partner laboratories to facilitate seamless utilization of sponsored testing
• Provide expertise on IRD gene panels and best practices for test requisition processes
• Deliver high-quality stakeholder education and provide strategic insights

What We're Looking For

• BA/BS required; healthcare degree strongly preferred (MS, RN, PA, PharmD, PhD)
• Minimum 3-4 years of pharmaceutical or biotech experience in commercial, clinical/medical, or diagnostics roles
• Excellent virtual presentation, communication, and influencing skills with proven ability to engage healthcare stakeholders through digital and remote platforms
• Proficiency with CRM platforms, virtual meeting technologies, and digital engagement tools
• Demonstrated success working in high-performing, diverse teams
• Experience collaborating with KOLs, laboratories, and internal/external stakeholders
• Strong diagnostic and scientific acumen coupled with strategic thinking and operational capability
• Experience in virtual customer engagement, inside sales, clinical support, diagnostics, or medical education preferred
• Prior experience in rare or ultra-rare diseases with strong patient focus preferred
• Knowledge of ophthalmology strongly preferred
• Located in the Western U.S. region
