Claims Assistant Manager of Liability

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential specialty insurance organization in their search for a Claims Assistant Manager of Liability. This is a remote leadership role for candidates located in the United States, with responsibility for managing and developing a team of liability claims adjusters in a high-performance environment.

As a member of our client's leadership team, you'll drive adjuster development, ensure quality file handling, and collaborate across departments to deliver exceptional service to policyholders. This role requires proven multi-vehicle auto liability expertise and the ability to inspire teams while maintaining operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of liability claims adjusters through daily support, file reviews, and career development planning
• Manage performance through monthly file audits, phone observations, and providing actionable feedback
• Collaborate with Property Damage and Casualty assistant managers to ensure cohesive claim resolution
• Oversee storage and rental expenses, subrogation demands through arbitration forums, and property damage excess claims
• Assist adjusters with complex liability determinations, comparative negligence analysis, and escalated customer calls
• Review and approve Reservation of Rights Letters, coverage disclaimers, and liability denials
• Monitor and balance adjuster workloads to optimize productivity and quality
• Review and approve reserve and payment requests exceeding adjuster authority levels
• Conduct staff meetings, complete performance reviews, and manage hiring and training of new team members
• Monitor key performance metrics including audit scores, closing ratios, same-day contact, NPS results, and compliance
• Participate in arbitration forums, hearing 1-2 cases monthly once eligible
• Lead or support department initiatives and special projects as assigned
• Manage timecards, attendance, and personnel matters in accordance with company policies

What We're Looking For

• 3-5 years of experience handling multi-vehicle auto liability claims
• Active insurance adjuster license and ability to be bonded
• Proven leadership capabilities with experience coaching or managing adjusters preferred
• Expert knowledge of liability analysis, comparative negligence, and insurance coverage principles
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for complex correspondence and customer interactions
• Strong decisiveness and ability to exercise authority appropriately
• Detail-oriented approach with high accuracy in file documentation and review
• Excellent problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently while contributing to team goals
• Proficiency with claims management systems and multitasking across platforms
• Demonstrated reliability, accountability, and trustworthiness
• Commitment to self-development and maintaining a positive attitude in a high-volume environment
• Flexibility to work additional hours as business needs require
• Ability to maintain confidential information with discretion
