Position Summary

The Imaging Support Specialist plays a vital role in maintaining and operating imaging systems that are critical to our research mission. You will provide hands-on technical support, manage imaging workflows, coordinate facility scheduling, and ensure that researchers across the university can effectively use our sophisticated imaging capabilities to advance their work.

Your Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain imaging equipment, ensuring systems remain calibrated, functional, and ready for research use
  • Provide technical training and guidance to researchers on proper imaging techniques, equipment operation, and best practices
  • Troubleshoot technical and operational issues with imaging systems and implement effective solutions
  • Manage imaging data workflows, including file organization, backup procedures, quality assurance, and archival
  • Document standard operating procedures and maintain comprehensive records of equipment maintenance and usage logs
  • Support imaging project planning and assist researchers with experimental design considerations and technical feasibility
  • Coordinate with research teams to schedule imaging sessions and optimize facility utilization
  • Collaborate with IT and facilities staff to maintain system infrastructure and resolve technical issues

Who We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, engineering, computer science, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
  • Technical aptitude and demonstrated ability to learn complex imaging systems and specialized software
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences
  • Experience with imaging technologies, microscopy, spectroscopy, or related laboratory equipment and systems
