Technology Cost Analyst

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential consulting organization that helps businesses make informed decisions about technology investments and transformation. Our talent team is seeking a freelance Technology Cost Analyst to support client engagements across London and the UK.

In this role, you will build evidence-based assessments of technology spending, working directly with client finance teams, technology leaders, and architects. Assignments typically involve around seven days of work spread across evidence collection, analysis, and recommendations phases. This is primarily remote work within the UK, with scope and days agreed for each individual assignment.

Responsibilities

• Collect and reconcile technology team costs, supplier expenditure, licensing fees, and hosting costs from multiple sources
• Standardize cost definitions to ensure fair and accurate comparisons across different delivery models
• Compare internal delivery costs with external supplier options, including transition and migration costs
• Build first-year cost estimates for proposed technology changes in collaboration with architects
• Apply credible peer benchmarks where evidence permits, while clearly explaining limitations and assumptions
• Produce clear Excel models and concise findings that senior stakeholders can review and validate

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience analyzing technology expenditure, IT finance, or consulting cost models
• Strong Excel skills with the ability to create clear, traceable calculations
• Ability to distinguish between recurring costs, one-off costs, cash savings, and capacity released
• Experience comparing supplier costs and internal team costs on a consistent, like-for-like basis
• Comfortable working with incomplete evidence and stating assumptions transparently
• Financial services experience is useful but not required
• FinOps or technology business management experience is welcome

Pay

This is a freelance contract position with day rates of £550 to £675 per day via Get A Job.ai, depending on relevant experience. Rates exclude VAT where applicable. Contracting arrangements and tax status will be confirmed before any assignment begins. Assignments are project-based with flexible remote working days. No minimum volume of work is guaranteed, though there is potential for further assignments by mutual agreement.
