Join the UT Libraries team as an Acquisitions & Access Specialist at UT MAIN CAMPUS. In this full-time position with Utaustin, you'll play a critical role in expanding access to information resources and managing the acquisition of materials that support research and learning across the university.
What This Role Involves
As an Acquisitions & Access Specialist, you're responsible for acquiring, organizing, and enabling access to library materials and resources. You'll work at the intersection of procurement, vendor management, and resource delivery—ensuring that faculty, students, and researchers have the materials they need when they need them. This position requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to solve problems creatively within a collaborative library environment.
Core Duties
- Select, order, and process acquisition of books, journals, electronic resources, and other materials aligned with university research and curriculum needs
- Manage vendor relationships, negotiate pricing and licensing terms, and track invoices and payments
- Coordinate serials and subscription management, including renewals and access maintenance
- Troubleshoot resource access issues and facilitate resolution with vendors and IT partners
- Maintain acquisition records, manage budgets, and provide reporting on material expenditures
- Collaborate with subject librarians and departments to support collection development initiatives
- Assist in evaluating new resources and platforms for potential acquisition
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in library science, business, information management, or related field
- Experience with library systems, acquisitions workflows, or vendor management
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with ability to prioritize multiple projects
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, mission-driven environment
- Attention to accuracy in financial tracking and documentation
