About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential quantum computing organization in their search for a Senior Electrical Characterisation Engineer. This is a rare opportunity to work at the intersection of semiconductor manufacturing and quantum hardware, helping to qualify and improve the silicon devices that power next-generation quantum processors.

You'll play a critical role in the Process Integration team, using electrical characterisation and large-scale data analysis to understand manufacturing variability, identify root causes of device behavior, and provide actionable feedback directly to semiconductor fabrication processes. This position offers the chance to make a tangible impact on the yield, quality and scalability of cutting-edge quantum technology.

Responsibilities

  • Drive electrical characterisation of fabricated silicon devices, developing high-throughput screening methods to assess threshold voltage, gate oxide reliability, channel mobility and other critical parameters
  • Transform electrical data into manufacturing insights by identifying patterns, variability and device failures and connecting them to specific semiconductor process steps including photolithography, etching, oxide growth, CMP and doping
  • Develop automated measurement and test infrastructure using Python-based test routines and instrument-control workflows across room-temperature and low-temperature wafer probing environments
  • Analyse large-scale electrical datasets using statistical process control, yield analysis and data-driven techniques to monitor wafer uniformity, defect density and process drift
  • Collaborate directly with semiconductor foundries and process engineers, providing clear, actionable feedback to improve device performance, consistency and yield
  • Build scalable characterisation processes by establishing testing standards, calibration procedures, SOPs and data pipelines that enable effective information flow between teams
  • Contribute ideas and expertise to shape next-generation characterisation capabilities as the organization scales

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements:

  • Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, Semiconductor Physics, Materials Science or closely related discipline
  • 3+ years' experience in semiconductor device testing, reliability engineering, electrical characterisation or yield analysis within a foundry, IDM or semiconductor R&D environment
  • Strong understanding of silicon CMOS fabrication processes, semiconductor device physics and foundry workflows
  • Hands-on experience with semiconductor parameter analysers, SMUs and wafer probe stations, including DC and/or RF electrical testing
  • Strong Python skills for instrument control, automation and automated test execution
  • Highly analytical approach with ability to work with large datasets to identify trends, anomalies and root causes
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across semiconductor, process, hardware and quantum engineering teams

Desirable Experience:

  • Quantum device physics, including quantum dots, single-electron transistors (SETs) or charge-stability mapping
  • Cryogenic electrical characterisation and low-temperature measurement systems
  • Semiconductor yield improvement, process control or statistical analysis
  • Automated wafer-level testing and high-throughput characterisation
  • Working with advanced or emerging semiconductor technologies
