Senior/Staff Product Engineer (m/f/x)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a well-funded Berlin-based AI startup that is transforming document-intensive professional services workflows. Our client has secured significant Series A funding, built a working product with paying customers, and is now scaling their engineering team. They need an experienced product engineer who thrives on solving novel problems across the full stack.

This is a hands-on IC role in a small, high-trust engineering team where you'll ship features that directly impact how professionals work. You'll build both the user-facing product and the AI systems that power it, working from Berlin alongside other strong builders.

Responsibilities

• Build complex, data-dense interfaces for professional workflows, partnering with design to turn sophisticated requirements into intuitive experiences
• Develop and refine AI agent systems, including tooling, evaluation pipelines, and reliability infrastructure
• Design and implement long-running workflow systems that surface failures quickly and remain debuggable at scale
• Drive technical decisions through RFCs and architecture discussions, collaborating with product to define scope and approach
• Leverage AI tools extensively in your own development workflow to increase velocity while maintaining high code quality
• Own outcomes end-to-end, from data models through APIs to frontend implementation

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 5+ years shipping production web applications across frontend, backend, and data layers
• Strong experience building production APIs and designing data models for multi-tenant SaaS applications
• Proven ability to build genuinely complex user interfaces, not just CRUD forms
• Hands-on understanding of LLM agent systems: agent design, tool use, evaluation frameworks, and quality measurement
• Track record of making architectural decisions, weighing trade-offs, and building extensible systems
• Comfort with ambiguity and first-principles problem solving when reference implementations don't exist
• Strong product mindset with real ownership of outcomes

Preferred:

• Direct experience building agent harnesses or evaluation pipelines
• Background in data-dense or workflow-heavy B2B products
• Experience scaling multi-tenant systems as data and traffic grow
• Domain knowledge in audit, finance, compliance, or other high-stakes professional services
• Early-stage startup or fast-moving engineering environment experience

Technical environment: React, TypeScript, Tailwind, TanStack on the frontend; Python, Postgres, Temporal, Kafka, Redis on the backend; GCP, Azure, and Kubernetes infrastructure.
