Manager – Data Engineering

We are representing a confidential healthcare organization in their search for a Manager - Data Engineering. This is a remote position based in the United States, offering an exciting opportunity to lead a talented team of data engineers while working with large-scale healthcare datasets spanning over a million managed lives nationwide.

Our client is looking for a technical leader who can mentor engineers, drive scalable data solutions, and collaborate across analytics, data science, and technology teams to deliver enterprise-grade platforms that improve patient care and operational outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, building a culture focused on continuous learning, innovation, and operational excellence
• Partner with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable data pipelines and models aligned with business requirements and industry standards
• Oversee development, deployment, and maintenance of enterprise-grade ELT processes, data marts, and business intelligence assets
• Own and evolve data quality frameworks with proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and issue resolution
• Champion automation and modern data engineering practices to drive efficiency in pipeline management and data delivery
• Guide your team in developing healthcare operations domain knowledge while ensuring regulatory and security compliance
• Contribute to strategic planning including resource allocation, technology selection, and process improvement initiatives
• Support and enforce software development best practices including code reviews, source control, CI/CD, and testing

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, healthcare, analytics, or related field; Master's degree preferred
• At least 5 years of experience in data engineering or software development roles
• At least 2 years in a leadership or management capacity
• At least 2 years of experience working with medical claims in healthcare and/or managed care environments
• Strong expertise building scalable ELT/ETL pipelines using modern data platforms and cloud services such as AWS or Azure
• Advanced proficiency with SQL and scripting/programming languages including Python or Spark
• Solid understanding of database structures, data modeling (normalized, star schema, snowflake), and data warehousing concepts
• Experience with Databricks or similar distributed computing platforms preferred
• Familiarity with BI tools such as Power BI
• Deep understanding of professional software engineering practices including SDLC, version control, CI/CD, and automated testing
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences
• Passion for mentoring and developing engineering talent
• Collaborative, team-first mindset with a bias for action and commitment to measurable impact

Pay

Pay via Get A Job.ai: $140,000 - $160,000 annually. Final compensation will be determined based on your geographic location, experience, and other job-related factors.
