Senior DevSecOps Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential defence technology organization seeking a Senior DevSecOps Engineer to join their London team. This role is critical to building and securing the software delivery infrastructure that powers advanced autonomous systems for defence applications.

You'll work at the intersection of platform engineering, cyber security, and defence systems—collaborating with autonomy engineers, software teams, and systems integration specialists to create secure, reliable pipelines that enable rapid development and deployment of mission-critical software.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience operating within UK defence environments and understands the Ministry of Defence/NATO approach to DevSecOps, Secure by Design principles, and delivering software into classified operational settings.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate secure development and deployment infrastructure for autonomous systems and defence programmes
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines enabling rapid, repeatable, and secure delivery of mission software
• Embed security throughout the software development lifecycle, integrating controls, testing, evidence, and assurance into engineering workflows
• Apply UK MOD Secure by Design principles and help engineering teams meet cyber security and technical assurance responsibilities
• Establish development environments spanning cloud, on-premises infrastructure, laboratory settings, simulation, hardware-in-the-loop, and operational platforms
• Enable secure software development across different security classifications with appropriately segmented environments
• Implement automated security controls including static analysis, dependency scanning, container scanning, secrets detection, and vulnerability management
• Champion a DevSecOps culture where engineers own the security, reliability, and operational performance of their systems

What We're Looking For

Required:

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cyber Security, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, DevSecOps, platform engineering, site reliability engineering, or software engineering
• Significant experience delivering software or digital capabilities within UK defence or highly regulated national security environments
• Strong understanding of UK Ministry of Defence/NATO approach to DevSecOps and Secure by Design, including cyber security and risk management integration
• Experience applying MOD security policies, security assurance processes, and technical security requirements to defence programmes
• Proven track record developing and operating CI/CD pipelines using modern source control, build, test, and deployment technologies
• Strong grasp of Infrastructure as Code, configuration management, containerisation, and infrastructure automation
• Experience with Git, GitLab, GitHub, or equivalent tooling

Desirable:

• Experience supporting DevSecOps or software delivery activities across NATO nations or multinational defence programmes
• Understanding of security frameworks and software assurance practices used by other NATO nations, particularly the United States and European partners
