Production Assembly & Test Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology client in the construction sector, seeking a Production Assembly & Test Engineer to join their NPI facility in Reading, Berkshire. This is an on-site role working with cutting-edge augmented reality hardware that is transforming how major construction projects are delivered.

Our client has grown significantly across the UK, US, and Europe, and you'll be joining their production team at a critical stage of their expansion. This hands-on role combines precision assembly work with test, calibration, and quality processes.

Responsibilities

• Assemble complex AR hardware devices to SOP and specification standards, including robot calibration and configuration processes
• Perform in-process and final testing to defined acceptance criteria, releasing product under the quality management system
• Maintain calibration records and support the calibration register for production test equipment
• Record test and calibration results accurately against serial numbers
• Support software and firmware installation and verification during assembly and test phases
• Identify, record, and escalate non-conforming product through the NCR process
• Support fault-finding, repair, and rework on returned and failed units
• Create and maintain SOPs and work instructions for assembly, test, and calibration processes under the QMS
• Keep documentation current as processes and engineering changes are implemented
• Support goods-in inspection to acceptance criteria

What We're Looking For

• Hands-on assembly experience with complex electro-mechanical products
• Test, calibration, and measurement experience, ideally including automated or robotic calibration equipment
• Ability to write, follow, and improve test procedures, SOPs, and acceptance criteria
• Fault-finding and debugging skills across both electronics and mechanical assemblies
• Comfortable with command-line tools and with software and firmware installation
• Understanding of calibration control and traceability requirements
• Accurate record-keeping and genuine attention to detail
• Good IT skills including MS Office
• Comfortable working to QMS standards in a structured, process-driven production environment
• Right to work in the UK without sponsorship is required
