Senior Product Owner

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential healthcare technology organization in their search for a Senior Product Owner to lead the day-to-day execution of their care coordination product line. This is a fully remote position based in the United States.

Our client is building next-generation solutions in the care coordination space, including forms automation and referral management platforms. As Senior Product Owner, you'll translate product strategy into executable sprint work, owning the product backlog and serving as the bridge between product management, engineering, design, and QA.

Responsibilities

• Own and refine the product backlog: write clear user stories, define acceptance criteria, and prioritize against roadmap objectives set by product management
• Lead agile ceremonies including backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives as the product representative
• Translate roadmap initiatives into release plans, epics, features, and stories that engineering teams can estimate and deliver
• Make day-to-day prioritization and trade-off decisions within sprints; escalate scope or roadmap decisions appropriately
• Accept completed user stories against acceptance criteria and confirm release readiness
• Partner with engineering and QA to triage defects, clarify edge cases, and remove blockers quickly
• Coordinate with UX/design to ensure flows and mockups are ready ahead of development cycles
• Support product management in customer discovery, user interviews, and validation sessions
• Maintain product documentation including user stories, release notes, training materials, and post-launch updates
• Support release activities including UAT coordination, customer pilots, and internal enablement for sales and customer success teams
• Track sprint and release metrics (velocity, throughput, defect rates); surface risks proactively
• Leverage AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, and others) to accelerate product operations—drafting user stories, synthesizing feedback, generating documentation, and streamlining backlog grooming

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 3–5 years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar role on a software product team
• Demonstrated experience owning a product backlog in an Agile/Scrum environment
• 2+ years in healthcare technology; experience with care coordination, health information management, EHR/EMR, referral management, or clinical workflows strongly preferred
• Hands-on experience with backlog tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, or equivalent
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to break down complex problems into well-scoped, testable stories
• Excellent collaboration skills across engineering, design, QA, and product management
• Exceptional written and verbal communication with strong documentation discipline
• Ability to thrive in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments, including 0-to-1 product builds
• Willingness to travel up to 25% for customer visits, discovery sessions, and team collaboration
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Computer Science, or related field preferred

Preferred:

• Demonstrated hands-on use of AI tools in day-to-day product operations (drafting stories, synthesizing interviews, analyzing feedback, generating release notes, automating documentation). Our client is an AI-forward organization and values candidates who actively use AI to raise team efficiency.
• Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), SAFe POPM, or equivalent certification
• Familiarity with HIPAA, interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7), and the U.S. healthcare provider environment
• Experience supporting 0-to-1 product launches
• Background in referral management, intake/forms automation, or care coordination workflow products
• Familiarity with AI/ML-enabled features applied to clinical or administrative workflows
