Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential energy-tech client in München that is building critical data infrastructure for industrial energy management across Europe. As a Data Engineer, you will own the data backbone that powers real-time dashboards, forecasting, and operational insights.

Your core responsibilities include:

  • Designing and maintaining pipelines that ingest meter readings from industrial sites across Europe, handling API integrations and message-based data streams
  • Normalizing diverse data formats into consistent structures that support analytics, dashboards, and forecasting models
  • Building anomaly detection and pattern recognition capabilities to surface actionable insights—identifying equipment drift, unusual consumption patterns, or operational inefficiencies
  • Collaborating with a 12-person engineering team organized into two squads, with fast iteration cycles and direct customer impact
  • Supporting scalable, production-grade data infrastructure on cloud platforms

What We're Looking For

Must have:

  • 3–5 years of data engineering experience building and maintaining production pipelines
  • Hands-on data science experience: you have built, evaluated, and deployed models in production environments and can distinguish signal from noise in real-world data
  • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, with demonstrated experience designing cloud-based data workflows and APIs
  • Proven ability working with high-volume time-series data, including handling ingestion challenges like late arrivals, missing readings, and data quality issues
  • Systems thinking: your first instinct when facing complexity is to simplify the problem upstream rather than building elaborate solutions downstream
  • Clear written and spoken English

Nice to have:

  • Experience in energy, industrial IoT, or domains involving hardware-generated telemetry
  • Familiarity with device protocols, metering systems, or streaming data pipelines
  • Knowledge of TypeScript or Kotlin
  • Production operations experience: monitoring, alerting, and maintaining what you build
  • German language skills
