About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential public sector technology client seeking a Consultant Public Sector to join their team in Mainz, Germany. This role offers the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere in Germany while contributing to meaningful digitalization projects that modernize government services for citizens and businesses.

Our client is at the forefront of implementing digital transformation initiatives within German federal, state, and municipal administrations. You'll work on high-impact projects that streamline administrative processes, reduce bureaucratic burdens, and create user-centered digital solutions with genuine societal relevance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and shape IT consulting projects within the consulting unit, working directly with public sector clients
• Guide clients through digitalization initiatives, from strategic planning through successful implementation
• Support the design of strategies, organizational structures, and processes for government agencies at federal, state, and local levels
• Collaborate with project teams to gather client requirements and develop innovative solution strategies and concepts
• Accompany IT solution implementations from preparation through piloting, testing, and go-live phases
• Facilitate workshops, information sessions, office hours, and training to engage diverse users and stakeholders during change management
• Create clear documentation including guidelines, handbooks, and materials for committee involvement
• Plan post-implementation support structures including hypercare, user feedback collection, and transition to stable operations
• Continuously develop your expertise through professional training and team knowledge transfer

What We're Looking For

• Completed degree in political science, administrative science, public administration informatics, law, business informatics, or another relevant field that qualifies you for this work
• Initial practical experience in consulting or IT project management; experience with public administration is particularly valued
• Strong understanding of project planning and management; familiarity with PM methodologies is ideal or willingness to learn quickly
• Enthusiasm for guiding new IT solutions from preparation through successful launch
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to bring different users and stakeholders along during change processes
• Ability to present complex content clearly in various formats for different audiences
• Technical understanding and interest in system implementation topics including configuration, interfaces, data migration, customizing, and functional/technical testing
• Awareness of post-launch needs including support, hypercare, and operational transition planning
• Interest in government digitalization and how modern IT services are successfully introduced in public organizations
• Knowledge of data protection and IT service management frameworks is a plus, but eagerness to learn is more important
• German language proficiency required for this role
