Forward Deployed Engineer (m/f/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a fast-growing SaaS client in Berlin that is digitizing operations for skilled trades across Europe. This is a rare Forward Deployed Engineer role where you will spend significant time embedded with end users—skilled tradespeople running real businesses—then return to build the AI-powered tools that solve the problems you've witnessed firsthand.

Our client has deployed around thirty production AI agents in the last six months, handling pricing, lead qualification, and business operations for partners whose livelihoods depend on reliability. You will own features end-to-end: from sitting in the field understanding workflows, to shipping agents and interfaces, to measuring whether hours were actually saved.

Responsibilities

• Spend real time with customers in their work environments—at desks, in vehicles, on job sites—observing how work actually happens and identifying friction points
• Build full-stack solutions across Python/FastAPI services, Vue interfaces, Flutter mobile screens, agent workflows, and data pipelines
• Own AI agents in production that handle real customer interactions, pricing, and lead response—where mistakes have commercial consequences
• Define your own acceptance criteria and decide what to build based on direct user feedback and business impact
• Measure outcomes: hours saved per partner, automation rates, response times, and whether the metric you targeted actually moved
• Iterate rapidly, sometimes shipping multiple versions in a single day based on field observations

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Production experience building and maintaining LLM-powered features, including evaluation frameworks, structured output parsing, context management, and graceful error handling
• Track record of owning features end-to-end—architecture through delivery through post-launch iteration
• Demonstrated ability to ship products that real users adopted and relied upon
• High agency: you thrive with context and constraints, not detailed instructions
• Strong foundation in at least one area of the stack, with willingness to work across backend, frontend, mobile, and AI layers as needed
• Genuine curiosity about customer problems and comfort changing technical direction based on user feedback

Helpful experience:

• Backend: Python, FastAPI, async SQLAlchemy, PostgreSQL, Celery, Redis
• Frontend: Vue 3, TypeScript, modern tooling
• Mobile: Flutter
• AI/ML: working with Anthropic or similar models, vector search, prompt engineering
• Infrastructure: cloud platforms, containerization, monitoring tools
• German language skills (team works in English; partners speak German)

Pay

Compensation details will be discussed during the screening process and are competitive with top-of-market rates for Berlin-based engineering roles. Our client also offers a meaningful equity package.
