Principal Engineer, CSRE (Remote, United Kingdom)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential live entertainment technology client in their search for a Principal Engineer focused on site reliability and infrastructure. This is a remote position based in the United Kingdom, working with a global team responsible for core platform components.

Our talent team is partnering with an organization that operates at massive scale, connecting millions of users to real-time event experiences. You'll join a team building the foundational systems that enable developer velocity and platform resilience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and roll out key infrastructure components across a large-scale distributed estate
• Lead architectural decisions and define delivery strategies for incident handling, alerting, telemetry, and cloud migration projects
• Build frameworks, libraries, and tooling that accelerate engineering teams
• Refactor and improve legacy systems, characterizing current behavior and shipping incremental improvements
• Design fault-tolerant, self-healing systems with clear paths to scale
• Build components that speak open standards and design to interfaces rather than vendor lock-in
• Evaluate, prototype, and benchmark new approaches before production adoption
• Leverage LLMs and emerging technologies to enhance software development practices
• Ensure work visibility and clearly communicate value delivered
• Mentor fellow engineers and provide technical leadership

What We're Looking For

Technical Skills:

• Deep expertise in at least one programming language with demonstrated ability to apply that knowledge across different contexts
• Exposure to strongly typed languages and functional programming paradigms
• Strong design sense—ability to distinguish good architecture from poor and articulate the reasoning
• Systems-level design capability and comfort working with complex legacy constraints
• Open-minded perspective on how LLMs are changing software engineering practices

• Experience working within SAFe processes (PI objectives, ARTs, reporting cadence) while maintaining team agility
