About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential nonprofit organization serving vulnerable children and families. We are seeking a Director of Development Communications to lead donor-centered communications that advance philanthropic priorities and organizational impact.

This is a remote position based within reasonable driving distance to locations in Florida, including Lakeland, Jacksonville, Bradenton, Sarasota, Gainesville, and Miami.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a high volume of compelling, donor-centered proposals in collaboration with philanthropy officers and organizational leaders
  • Create, organize, and maintain a comprehensive library of proposal templates by program and ask type, incorporating current organizational information, program descriptions, outcomes, and impact data
  • Partner with marketing and communications teams to ensure philanthropic writing is consistent with organizational strategic vision, messaging, voice, and brand
  • Collaborate with operations teams to ensure accuracy and consistency of impact numbers, outcomes, and data across all philanthropic communications, including stewardship pieces, proposals, letters, appeals, and impact reports
  • Draft warm, professional, mission-aligned letters, acknowledgements, and thank-you note templates for executive leadership and development team use
  • Provide writing support for appeals and donor communications, including first-time donor, monthly donor, pre-lapsed, and other stewardship programs
  • Develop messaging, themes, and content strategies for communications supporting donor acquisition and stewardship
  • Effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines to ensure high-quality deliverables are completed on time
  • Establish measurable goals and performance indicators for key philanthropic communications and use results to inform and improve future efforts
  • Follow established project management processes, workflows, and conventions within project management platforms to ensure effective communication, collaboration, and project completion
  • Pursue ongoing personal and professional growth in writing, proposal development, project management, and related areas

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, professional writing, creative writing, or related area (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience using design platforms such as Canva, Photoshop, PowerPoint, and similar tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to successfully and effectively manage project priorities and workload
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to handle a variety of tasks and responsibilities efficiently with a high level of quality
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Strong multi-tasking abilities
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, meet deadlines, and work independently
  • Problem-solving skills to analyze situations, determine next steps, and implement solutions
  • Ability to comprehend and process information rapidly and accurately
  • Skills in effectively organizing work, files, and records to maintain efficient workflow

Preferred:

  • Prior experience in proposal development, fundraising development, or related field
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple proposals, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously
  • Proficiency in organizational systems including Asana, Canva, and SharePoint

Important Note: Our client is a faith-based organization. Employees must have had a personal conversion experience with Jesus Christ and been scripturally baptized, be a member of a New Testament evangelical church and attend regularly, and commit to live in a manner consistent with The Baptist Faith and Message (2000).

Physical Requirements

This role regularly requires sitting and talking or hearing, frequently using hands to finger, handle, or feel, and occasionally walking and reaching with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities include close vision. The ability to work in stressful conditions from time to time and remain focused for extended periods is required. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds may be required.
