About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential SaaS organization based in Germany that is building production-grade AI platforms for enterprise clients. While others are still demonstrating prototypes, their customers are already using these systems daily with real data, strict compliance requirements, and German hosting standards.

As a Senior Fullstack Engineer, you'll take ownership of core platform features and architecture—from retrieval systems to frontend implementation. You'll work in an environment where AI-assisted development isn't aspirational, it's how the team ships code every day. You'll have genuine design authority and your architectural decisions will shape a platform that's already handling growing enterprise workloads.

Responsibilities

• Design and scale distributed systems and microservices with long-term maintainability and stability in mind
• Build production-ready AI features including RAG-based knowledge systems, department-specific AI applications, voice capabilities, translation services, and analytics functions
• Develop across the full stack: performant APIs, database modeling and optimization, and modern frontend interfaces
• Implement multi-tenancy architecture with role-based permissions, ensuring users cannot access unauthorized data through AI interactions; design for encryption, data minimization, and auditability from the start
• Maintain observability of AI feature quality, costs, and behavior in production through evaluations, monitoring, and guardrails that keep the platform stable as usage scales
• Evolve existing systems by creating clear structures and reducing technical debt where it matters, while making pragmatic trade-offs elsewhere
• Work routinely with coding assistants and agents (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot), extracting value beyond autocomplete while understanding their limitations; test new tools and workflows early, evaluate honestly, and establish team standards for effective use
• Collaborate closely with product owners, UX designers, and consultants to translate real customer use cases into technical solutions
• Make technical decisions transparent and mentor junior developers through code reviews and hands-on guidance

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 5 years developing complex software systems, ideally in AI, SaaS, or cloud environments
• Strong TypeScript expertise and experience with Node.js, ideally including frameworks like NestJS
• Solid software architecture knowledge for distributed systems: microservices, API design, and scaling patterns
• Frontend experience with frameworks such as Vue.js and a strong understanding of full-stack interactions
• Deep knowledge of databases (PostgreSQL or similar), data modeling, and performance optimization
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or similar), Docker, and operating SaaS applications
• AI-assisted development as standard practice: routine use of coding assistants and agents, with critical evaluation of generated code rather than blind trust
• Hands-on exploration of new tools, models, and workflows with the ability to identify what's worth adopting—experience with agentic setups (cloud-based coding agents, MCP integrations, automated reviews) is a strong advantage
• Solid understanding of modern AI/LLM concepts including RAG, function calling, embeddings, and agents
• Clean code practices, testing discipline, and comfort with code reviews as both author and reviewer
• Ability to make technical decisions and explain them clearly in German and English
• Experience with GDPR, ISO 27001, or the EU AI Act is advantageous

What matters most: Taking ownership, thinking about the product holistically, constructively questioning requirements, and making technical decisions you can justify two years later—pragmatically balanced between perfection and velocity. You'll design architecture in the morning, review pull requests at midday, write code in the afternoon, and grow the team's capabilities throughout.
