About This Opportunity
Our talent team is representing a confidential online education organization in their search for a Sr. Director, Pre-License. This is a high-impact leadership role owning the complete pre-licensure student journey—from first discovery through course completion and exam success—across a multi-state regulatory environment.
You will drive both new-customer acquisition and product experience, managing revenue, contribution margin, and cost across the entire qualifying education funnel. This role directs matrixed marketing, product, operations, and compliance teams to deliver enrollment growth, completion rates, and first-attempt pass rates at scale.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end pre-license outcomes including revenue, contribution, enrollment growth, completion rates, first-attempt pass rates, and customer acquisition cost across all channels and states
- Lead modern growth-marketing efforts: SEO/GEO, paid search and social, conversion rate optimization, lead-to-enrollment funnels, and referral partnerships
- Drive product and learning experience that increases engagement and completion, including exam-prep tools, at-risk student intervention, AI tutor capabilities, and instructor quality management
- Build satisfaction and referral mechanisms that seed downstream customer lifecycle and feed continuing education programs
- Author and standardize the pre-license operating model across national and regional brands, establishing shared platforms and playbooks while enabling local execution
- Deploy AI across acquisition (bidding, nurture, lead scoring) and student outcomes (at-risk detection, adaptive prep, AI tutoring), tracking adoption as a key operating metric
- Direct matrixed functional resources from marketing, product, operations, and shared services against qualifying education outcomes
- Maintain 100% state compliance status for pre-license curriculum across all jurisdictions—this is a non-negotiable requirement
- Run weekly operating reviews of funnel and outcome metrics and own quarterly planning within the annual operating plan
- Manage the post-licensure handoff, including customer data transfer and early attachment campaigns
What We're Looking For
Experience:
- 12–15+ years in growth, general management, or operations leadership within high-volume, funnel-driven consumer or professional education businesses
- Demonstrated ownership of both acquisition P&L (CAC, conversion, unit economics) and product/experience ownership driving completion and outcomes—candidates must show both
- Growth-marketing fluency across modern discovery, SEO/GEO, paid channels, conversion optimization, and marketing automation
- Experience in private-equity-backed or high-accountability environments with rigorous measurement and reporting
- Preferred: experience with regulated, accredited, or state-approved curriculum and multi-state compliance operations
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Operations, or related field required
- MBA or advanced degree preferred
Technical and Specialized Skills:
- Growth marketing: SEO/GEO, SEM, paid social, CRO, marketing automation, CRM pipeline management, partnership marketing
- Product and learning experience: LMS/experience design, exam-prep tooling, at-risk analytics, engagement/completion optimization, instructor quality management
- Regulatory and compliance operations: multi-state approval and filing processes for professional licensure programs
- Unit economics: CAC by channel and geography, conversion economics, contribution margin analysis at the enrollment level
- AI-first deployment: acquisition AI, outcome AI (adaptive prep, at-risk detection, AI tutoring), content AI with subject-matter-expert validation, and team-sizing for AI adoption
