Responsibilities
Our client, a well-established YouTube entertainment channel in the educational content space, is seeking a Script Writer & Editor to join their remote team. This role can be either part-time or full-time based on availability and fit.
In this position, you will:
- Write and edit compelling scripts for list-style YouTube videos ranging from 800 to 5,000 words
- Craft attention-grabbing introductions that hook viewers within the first 30 seconds
- Structure scripts strategically to maximize audience retention throughout each video
- Research topics thoroughly and fact-check all content for accuracy
- Collaborate with the production team on titles, thumbnails, and pacing recommendations
- Revise and refine scripts based on performance data and viewer analytics
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Proven experience writing scripts specifically for YouTube content, with channel links or writing samples demonstrating your work
- Exceptional ability to create hooks that immediately capture viewer attention and prevent scrolling
- Deep understanding of retention mechanics, including loops, payoffs, and pattern interrupts
- Strong writing speed and ability to meet deadlines while maintaining high quality
- Sharp editing skills with the ability to cut ruthlessly and ensure every word serves a purpose
- Bonus: familiarity with list-format or trivia-style content, experience analyzing YouTube analytics, background in journalism or copywriting, or passion for topics like history, science, and pop culture
