About This Opportunity

We are representing a well-funded fintech organization operating across multiple European markets. They are scaling rapidly and need an experienced People Operations Manager to build the operational and data infrastructure that supports a workforce of 150+ employees across four countries and multiple legal entities.

This is a high-ownership role for someone who wants to transform manual HR processes into automated, reliable systems. You will be the architect of people operations infrastructure—owning everything from payroll coordination to HRIS data integrity to employee lifecycle administration across Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg.

Responsibilities

You will take full ownership of:

  • End-to-end people operations including onboarding, offboarding, contracts, leaves, absence management, payroll coordination, immigration cases, and documentation
  • Designing and implementing automated, AI-supported workflows and integrations across HR systems to eliminate manual work
  • Coordinating monthly payroll across Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg with external providers—owning data accuracy, deadlines, and provider relationships
  • Maintaining the compliance calendar and documentation, working with external counsel on local employment law matters
  • Managing and supporting a diverse workforce across multiple contract types, locations, and legal entities
  • Serving as first-line support for employee questions on policy, contracts, leave, and benefits—while building self-serve solutions to reduce inquiry volume
  • Owning documentation and record-keeping for employee relations cases including case files, timelines, and correspondence
  • Proactively identifying gaps and inefficiencies in People Operations processes and driving improvement projects independently
  • Maintaining accurate HRIS data as the single source of truth and supporting strategic reporting and people analytics

What We're Looking For

  • 4+ years of experience in People Operations or HR administration, ideally in a fast-paced, international, or scaling startup environment
  • Proven end-to-end ownership of operational HR topics with measurable outcomes
  • Strong knowledge of German employment law and compliance requirements; UK or Luxembourgish employment law experience is a plus
  • Experience supporting an international workforce across different contract types, legal entities, locations, and working arrangements
  • Payroll coordination experience with external providers in at least one European country, owning inputs, deadlines, and provider relationships
  • Track record in HR automation, including designing and implementing workflow integrations or AI-supported solutions
  • Hands-on HRIS ownership—Personio ideally, or comparable system you have configured and maintained—plus experience connecting tools to build efficient workflows
  • Strong data literacy: ability to build reliable reports, spot inconsistencies, and investigate data quality issues
  • Excellent judgment and communication skills with ability to act as trusted advisor to employees, managers, and senior stakeholders
  • Fluency in English; German is a plus
  • Detail-oriented with genuine satisfaction from accurate records, properly filed documents, and carefully tracked deadlines
