Responsibilities
We are representing a confidential technology organization seeking a Data Governance Tech Lead to join their team remotely from Portugal. In this role, you will lead data governance initiatives across business and technology teams, establishing frameworks that ensure data quality, security, and responsible use throughout the enterprise.
Your core responsibilities will include:
- Leading data governance initiatives across business and technology teams
- Defining, documenting, and maintaining data governance policies, standards, and frameworks
- Collaborating with stakeholders to align governance processes with business objectives and regulatory requirements
- Managing and optimizing governance workflows using ITSM and collaboration platforms
- Supporting implementation and maintenance of data catalogs, metadata, and data registries
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks and governance standards
- Promoting data quality, consistency, and accountability across the organization
- Contributing to governance strategies for AI/ML solutions and responsible data use
What We're Looking For
Required qualifications:
- Minimum 4 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or Compliance
- Proven experience collaborating with technical and business stakeholders
- Experience documenting policies, schemas, and processes using tools like Confluence, Notion, or Miro
- Knowledge of ITSM and workflow management platforms (ServiceNow or Jira)
- Experience with data registry and data management tools (Airtable or similar)
- Familiarity with regulatory and governance frameworks (GDPR, NIST, ISO 42001)
- Knowledge of data catalog and metadata management platforms
- Excellent communication skills and fluent English (written and spoken)
Valued additional experience:
- Experience with governance frameworks applied to AI/ML and Responsible AI
- Familiarity with modern data platforms and cloud ecosystems
- Experience in enterprise transformation initiatives related to governance
- Strong analytical capability and continuous improvement orientation
