Golang Software Engineer

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential technology consulting organization seeking an experienced Golang Software Engineer to join their remote engineering team. In this role, you will design and build high-performance backend services, infrastructure tooling, and cloud-native applications where latency, concurrency, and operational efficiency are critical.

Your day-to-day work will include:

• Designing and implementing performant backend services and APIs in Go with strong attention to concurrency, error handling, and resource management
• Building cloud-native applications using Go and Kubernetes-native libraries, applying idiomatic Go patterns and well-defined module boundaries
• Developing CLI tools, Kubernetes controllers, and custom operators for internal platforms with robust error handling and reconciliation logic
• Implementing gRPC and REST APIs with appropriate observability and security measures
• Profiling and optimizing Go applications for memory, garbage collection, and goroutine behavior to deliver measurable gains in throughput and latency
• Integrating with messaging systems like Kafka or NATS and data stores including PostgreSQL, Redis, and etcd
• Building comprehensive automated tests including unit, integration, and benchmark tests
• Implementing structured logging, metrics emission, and distributed tracing throughout services for effective diagnosis and monitoring
• Leading code reviews and upholding engineering standards across Go projects
• Mentoring junior and mid-level engineers through code review, design review, and pair programming
• Contributing to internal Go libraries, shared platform tooling, and reusable patterns that accelerate development across teams
• Maintaining comprehensive technical documentation including architecture diagrams, design decisions, runbooks, and operational procedures

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with significant time working in Go
• Strong understanding of Go concurrency patterns including goroutines, channels, and contexts
• Hands-on experience building production gRPC and/or REST APIs in Go
• Experience with Kubernetes-native development using client-go and controller-runtime
• Solid experience with relational and key-value data stores
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and networking fundamentals
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and container-based deployment
• Excellent debugging and performance-engineering skills
• Strong communication and documentation skills

Preferred qualifications:

• Open-source contributions to Go-based projects
• Experience writing Kubernetes operators or controllers
• Familiarity with eBPF, service mesh, or low-level systems programming
• Exposure to security-sensitive Go projects involving cryptography or authentication
• Experience with WASM, Tinygo, or embedded systems

Work arrangement: 100% remote within the United States. This is a full-time, direct W2 position.
