Health Informatics Lead

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential federal consulting organization that is building out its health informatics practice. Our talent team is searching for an experienced Health Informatics Lead who can bridge advanced analytics, clinical workflows, and government healthcare operations. This is a remote role with periodic travel to the Washington, D.C. area.

You'll report to senior healthcare leadership and guide a team of data professionals in delivering actionable insights that improve patient safety, operational efficiency, and clinical outcomes across government and commercial healthcare clients.

Responsibilities

• Lead a health informatics practice applying data science, decision intelligence, and analytics to transform healthcare operations and patient outcomes
• Guide and mentor a senior data team, ensuring interoperability standards, security, and compliance requirements are met
• Collect and manage requirements from customers; actively participate in setting up and managing new studies
• Develop algorithms and tools to support data collection; analyze raw data including quality assessment, profiling, cleansing, and exploratory analysis
• Design and develop advanced operations research techniques, diagnostic and predictive models, and machine learning algorithms (logistic regression, random forest, decision tree) using large datasets
• Train and evaluate models using strong statistical knowledge; deploy models to operational settings with understanding of provider workflows
• Interpret and present results to providers and business stakeholders
• Develop data visualization techniques to articulate findings clearly
• Inform leadership and team members on technical tools, methodologies, and resources for conducting studies and analyzing information
• Plan, forecast, identify, and define major problems and future needs; seek root causes and develop practical solutions
• Evaluate the performance of decision systems, models, and tools; lead pilots and planned change initiatives
• Manage relationships with federal clients and strategic partners

What We're Looking For

• 15+ years of professional experience and domain expertise in Health Informatics, Health IT, and/or Clinical Informatics
• Expert-level skill across Python, R, SQL, Java, Julia, Scala and applications like SPSS, SAS
• 5+ years of advanced data analysis (AI/ML) experience
• Strong experience working with data and AI/ML platforms (Azure ML, AWS AI/ML, DataBricks, Palantir, Snowflake, etc.)
• Expertise in software/big data tools: Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka
• Proficiency in visualization tools (PowerApps, PowerBI, Looker, Metabase, Tableau, seaborn, etc.)
• Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication (verbal and writing) skills with fluency in MS Office
• Passion for continuous learning as data science evolves
• PhD, Masters, or BS degree in data science, statistics, computer/information science, or similar area (minimum)
• Healthcare, research, and consulting experience preferred
• Expertise in Electronic Health Record Management (EHRM) system integration and support strongly desired
• Direct experience supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs and/or Veterans Health Administration highly valued
