We are representing a confidential technology organization seeking a Senior Python Data Scraping Engineer for freelance project work based in Germany. This remote role focuses on building and maintaining sophisticated web scraping workflows that deliver high-quality, structured datasets for real-world applications.

Our client operates at the intersection of data engineering and AI development, connecting technical specialists with challenging extraction and automation projects. You'll work independently on complex data collection tasks that require both technical precision and creative problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute end-to-end data extraction workflows across structurally complex websites, ensuring comprehensive coverage and reliable delivery of clean, structured datasets
• Build custom scraping solutions and leverage automation tools to accelerate data collection, validation, and processing while meeting strict quality requirements
• Handle extraction from dynamic, JavaScript-rendered sources and interactive web applications, adapting your approach as site structures evolve
• Implement rigorous data quality controls including validation checks, cross-source consistency verification, formatting compliance, and systematic pre-delivery review
• Scale operations for large-volume datasets using efficient batching or parallelization techniques, monitor for failures, and maintain stability across minor structural changes
• Work independently to troubleshoot technical challenges and deliver accurate results within project timelines

What We're Looking For

Required Experience:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering, web scraping, automation, or software development
• Expert-level Python skills with deep knowledge of scraping libraries (BeautifulSoup, Selenium, or equivalent)
• Proven ability to extract data from dynamic content including JavaScript rendering, AJAX calls, and infinite scroll implementations
• Strong track record working with complex data structures: hierarchical content, archived pages, inconsistent HTML markup
• Demonstrated experience handling anti-bot mechanisms and navigating dynamic site structures at scale
• Solid background in data cleaning, normalization, and validation with delivery experience in CSV, JSON, and spreadsheet formats

Technical Requirements:

• Practical experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS or equivalent) and containerization using Docker
• Hands-on experience applying LLM frameworks (LangChain, OpenRouter, or similar) to automation workflows
• Working knowledge of API integration via proxies and proxy management
• GitHub portfolio demonstrating relevant technical work (strongly preferred)
• English proficiency at upper-intermediate (B2) level or above
