About This Opportunity
Our talent team is representing a confidential state health and human services organization seeking a Data Analyst III to join their Data Analytics & Reporting team on a fully remote basis. This is a permanent, full-time role supporting critical programs that deliver essential services to millions of residents.
You'll work as an experienced individual contributor performing complex analytical work under minimal supervision, delivering actionable insights that drive program effectiveness and operational improvements. This position does not include formal supervisory responsibilities but does involve mentoring junior analysts and collaborating across business units.
Responsibilities
Data Analysis & Reporting (30%)
- Conduct ad hoc and recurring data extraction, transformation, validation, and analysis using large, complex datasets
- Develop SQL scripts, stored procedures, functions, and analytical processes for reporting, data mining, modeling, and visualization
- Perform statistical analyses and trend evaluations to identify patterns, measure outcomes, and support data-driven decision-making
- Create and maintain analytical datasets, reports, studies, and summaries supporting operational monitoring and regulatory compliance
- Utilize enterprise platforms including SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake, IBM SPSS, Python, Excel, and SSRS
- Ensure data accuracy, accessibility, and availability to meet organizational priorities
Business Support & Stakeholder Services (25%)
- Respond to routine and complex data requests from leadership, business partners, and program staff
- Identify, extract, and compile data from existing sources for operational reporting and analysis
- Provide consultative support on data availability, reporting methodologies, database structures, and statistical techniques
- Collaborate to define requirements and deliver timely, meaningful analytical solutions
- Assist stakeholders in interpreting results and applying findings to business decisions
Analytics Projects & Operational Research (25%)
- Initiate and conduct analytical projects supporting policy evaluation, program monitoring, and operational improvement
- Analyze health and human services, demographic, census, and public-sector data sources
- Apply statistical methods to evaluate service utilization, operational performance, and population characteristics
- Develop structured datasets and maintain documentation for recurring and ad hoc initiatives
- Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance analytical processes and data quality
Communication & Data Storytelling (20%)
- Communicate analytical findings and recommendations to management and stakeholders
- Develop professional reports, presentations, visualizations, dashboards, and data products
- Translate technical information into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences
- Produce written and verbal presentations tailored to stakeholder groups
- Support publication through reports, briefing materials, and web-based formats
What We're Looking For
Required Experience:
- Two years of professional experience as a data analyst or in a closely related analytical role performing data analysis, reporting, transformation, business intelligence, statistical analysis, or decision-support functions
- Experience developing reports, analytical products, dashboards, or business intelligence deliverables
- Experience using SQL or comparable query languages to extract, transform, and analyze data
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in SQL development, data extraction, transformation, and analysis
- Experience with Python, Excel, SSRS, and IBM SPSS
- Skilled in statistical analysis, data validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and Snowflake environments
- Ability to develop reports, visualizations, charts, and dashboards
Knowledge & Competencies:
- Understanding of statistical analysis methods, quantitative research principles, and sampling techniques
- Knowledge of database concepts, relational design, and data governance practices
- Ability to organize and analyze large volumes of complex information
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
- Capacity to work independently, apply judgment, and mentor others
Preferred Certifications:
- Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300)
- Certified Analytics Professional (CAP)
- IIBA Certification in Business Data Analytics (CBDA)
- Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals (DP-900)
- DAMA Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)
Work Arrangement:
- 100% remote within Texas – candidates must reside in Texas by start date
- Reliable internet connectivity and webcam capability required during work hours
- Travel up to 5%
- Full-time, regular employment
