Senior Accountant (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential hospitality organization seeking a Senior Accountant to join their finance team in Berlin. In this role, you will be responsible for the proper execution of financial accounting and the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. You will ensure compliance with statutory, tax, and internal reporting requirements (UK GAAP) and serve as a key point of contact for auditors, tax advisors, and internal stakeholders.

Financial Accounting:

• Independent execution of general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and fixed asset accounting
• Ensure correct posting of all business transactions in accordance with HGB and group reporting requirements (UK GAAP)
• Perform account reconciliations and analysis of balance sheet and P&L accounts
• Monitor and reconcile intercompany transactions
• Ensure proper documentation and archiving of accounting records
• Support optimization and standardization of accounting processes

Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual Closing:

• Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements according to HGB
• Create reporting packages according to group requirements (UK GAAP)
• Execute closing entries and provision/accrual calculations
• Analyze and comment on significant balance sheet and P&L positions
• Participate in external annual audits

Tax and Compliance:

• Support preparation of tax returns and tax analyses
• Ensure compliance with tax and commercial law regulations
• Serve as contact person for tax advisors, auditors, and authorities
• Participate in operational, VAT, and tax audits
• Prepare and create VAT advance returns and other tax filings in cooperation with external tax advisors

Reporting and Finance Support:

• Analyze financial KPIs and balance sheet positions
• Support budget, forecast, and planning processes
• Identify variances and develop corresponding recommendations
• Create regular financial reports and ad-hoc analyses for management and group

Process and System Optimization:

• Further develop and digitalize finance and accounting processes
• Participate in finance and ERP projects
• Actively support the planned migration from Sage 200 to Oracle Fusion
• Optimize internal controls and ensure compliance with group standards

What We're Looking For

• Successfully completed commercial training, ideally as a tax specialist, supplemented by further education as a certified accountant (IHK) or comparable qualification
• Several years of professional experience (minimum 5 years) in accounting, financial accounting, or tax consulting
• Solid knowledge of commercial and tax law (especially HGB)
• Practical experience in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Experience with ERP systems, ideally Sage 200; experience with Oracle Fusion is advantageous
• Very good knowledge of MS Excel
• Structured, independent, and solution-oriented working style
• Strong affinity for numbers and analytical thinking
• High sense of responsibility and quality orientation
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• High integrity and careful handling of confidential information
• Very good German language skills, written and spoken
• Good to very good English language skills, written and spoken, particularly for communication with international group functions and processing reporting requirements
