Senior Embedded Software Engineer- Hardware

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization in their search for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join their Hardware Development team in Berlin. Our client is building next-generation payment hardware, and this role offers a unique opportunity to work on a brand-new Android-based embedded platform from the ground up. You'll be involved from bootloader through kernel and framework, helping define the architecture rather than inheriting legacy systems.

This is an office-first position based in Berlin, working alongside experienced embedded and secure processor engineers throughout the product bring-up process.

Responsibilities

• Support system bring-up for a new Android embedded platform, covering bootloader, kernel, and framework layers
• Integrate and maintain kernel modules and drivers, including power management and connectivity components
• Contribute to build system integration across the platform
• Debug hardware and software issues at the protocol level and resolve critical issues identified during testing phases
• Conduct testing and validation to ensure platform stability and security before release

What We're Looking For

• Several years of professional experience developing embedded systems with a strong focus on Android OS
• Deep knowledge of Android OS architecture, from bootloader (U-Boot, Little Kernel) and kernel through to framework and services
• Hands-on experience debugging hardware interfaces at protocol level, including I2C, SPI, UART, and SDIO
• Solid understanding of embedded security concepts such as Secure Boot, TrustZone (TEE), dm-verity, encryption, and hardware-backed key storage
• Experience working with Qualcomm Snapdragon or MediaTek platforms
• Expert-level C programming skills for embedded Linux environments
