Staff Product Engineer, AI

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential AI software company seeking a Staff Product Engineer to join their AI development team in Berlin. Our client builds advanced AI-powered customer service solutions used by thousands of businesses worldwide.

This is a hybrid role requiring at least three days per week in the Berlin office. You'll work at the intersection of machine learning and product engineering, collaborating with ML scientists and product teams to build production-ready AI systems.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale systems powering flagship AI products, primarily working in Python ML tech stack and occasionally Rails
• Translate proof-of-concept ML code into robust, production-ready systems alongside ML scientists
• Partner with product teams to design AI-powered customer experiences
• Contribute across the full software development lifecycle from ideation through testing and deployment
• Mentor engineers and participate actively in hiring and team development
• Set technical standards for performance, reliability, and operational excellence across the organization

What We're Looking For

• 10+ years of experience shipping high-quality software products
• Strong software engineering fundamentals with demonstrated significant impact in previous work
• Deep knowledge of at least one high-level programming language (Python, Ruby, JavaScript, etc.)
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
• Bias toward progress over perfection and strong willingness to advocate for good outcomes
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
• No ML experience required—we value excellent engineering skills and the ability to learn ML concepts on the job

Bonus qualifications: Previous experience in data analytics or statistical roles is a plus.
