Senior Site Reliability Engineer (all genders)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential eCommerce technology organization in Berlin that is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to ensure their systems remain fast, available, and scalable during a critical platform transformation. You will work alongside the hosting team and experienced engineers to shape the path toward a modern SaaS infrastructure.

Your responsibilities include:

• Defining and owning SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets across multiple products, making data-driven decisions on reliability and performance
• Driving incident response through rapid detection, clear communication, blameless postmortems, and sustainable follow-up actions
• Reducing manual work through automation and GitOps practices (Argo CD, Flux), building self-healing and self-service capabilities
• Supporting the development of custom Kubernetes operators and CRDs, and introducing auto-scaling solutions (HPA, VPA, KEDA, Cluster Autoscaler)
• Advancing observability through metrics, logs, traces, alerting, and runbooks that genuinely support on-call operations
• Planning capacity and costs across on-premise and cloud environments, including burst scenarios to public cloud
• Leveraging AI tools to enhance diagnostics, alerting, and operational workflows

What We're Looking For

• Experience as an SRE, Infrastructure Engineer, or Production Engineer in a SaaS or platform environment—or a strong software/operations background with clear intent to grow into the SRE role
• Solid understanding of SLOs, error budgets, incident management, and observability principles
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and interest in cluster lifecycle management, upgrades, and operator patterns
• Experience or strong interest in Harvester or comparable HCI/virtualization platforms (KubeVirt, vSphere/ESXi, OpenStack)
• Familiarity with GitOps tooling (Argo CD, Flux), container storage solutions (Longhorn, Ceph), and Kubernetes networking (load balancing, ingress)
• Knowledge of auto-scaling primitives (HPA, VPA, Cluster Autoscaler, KEDA) and capacity planning for on-premise and cloud environments
• Understanding of production data center networking concepts, including VLANs
• Strong automation instinct and commitment to systematically eliminating toil
• Practical experience using AI tools in operational contexts
• Excellent English skills; German is advantageous
