About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential SaaS organization seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their team in Romania. Our client operates in a dynamic environment where engineering excellence and collaborative teamwork drive success. This is an opportunity to work with modern technologies while contributing to client-facing applications that make a real impact.
The engineering system features a microservices architecture with ReactJS, Java, PostgreSQL, Docker, and AWS. You'll be working hands-on while also providing technical leadership to help shape the team's direction and delivery.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration
- Conduct regular 1:1s, provide coaching and feedback, and support professional development
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, performance management, and annual reviews
- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code that sets the technical standard for the team
- Actively contribute to key development projects and unblock engineering challenges
- Guide architecture decisions, code reviews, and technical planning
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and stakeholders to deliver solutions aligned with business needs
- Own sprint planning, delivery timelines, and status reporting while holding the team accountable to commitments
- Champion engineering best practices in coding, testing, CI/CD, and monitoring
- Drive continuous improvement in tools, workflows, and team processes
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
- 1–2+ years in a leadership or team lead capacity
- Proficiency in Java with comfort adopting new technologies
- Experience with AWS Lambda, ECS, SQS, Kinesis, Sendgrid, Postfix, and Terraform
- Track record designing and delivering scalable, production-ready systems
- Ability to contribute to both frontend and/or backend codebases as needed
- Strong understanding of modern development practices, architecture patterns, and engineering tools
- Experience delivering reliable, high-performance REST APIs
- Strong interest in database and query performance tuning
- Experience with scrum/agile development methodologies
- Familiarity with code reviews, service ownership, automated testing, microservices, and continuous releases
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams
Preferred:
- Technical experience with email processing and tracking in large systems
- Experience with serverless, queuing, and streaming technologies
- Comfort being on-call for support and interacting directly with clients when needed
- Background working in the finance industry and/or at a SaaS startup
