Responsibilities
We are representing a confidential autonomous systems organization seeking a Senior Autonomy Stack Integration Engineer for their land-based platforms. In this role, you will ensure end-to-end functionality across the complete autonomy stack, working at the intersection of software development, vehicle integration, and deployment operations.
Your day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Leading system-level integration of autonomous software stacks on ground vehicle platforms, from individual components to fully functioning systems
- Establishing and maintaining deep understanding of interfaces, dependencies, timing, data flows, and failure modes across distributed autonomous systems
- Owning system-level troubleshooting and triaging, identifying issues across component boundaries and driving resolution with responsible teams
- Building and maintaining tooling required to inspect, diagnose, reproduce, and understand system behavior across the complete stack
- Defining representative integration environments, configurations, datasets, scenarios, and system-level tests
- Driving vehicle-level integration and resolving issues through disciplined troubleshooting and integration practices
- Establishing automated testing and deployment pipelines in alignment with continuous integration targets
- Coordinating autonomy stack changes involving multiple teams and ensuring end-to-end validation
- Setting priorities and establishing best practices for specification, development, testing, and review across teams
- Treating safety and security as first-class requirements throughout all development and integration activities
What We're Looking For
Our client requires candidates with:
- Engineering degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or comparable field
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering, robotics, autonomous systems, embedded systems, or comparable complex software-intensive systems
- Strong experience integrating complex distributed software systems involving software, compute hardware, sensors, networks, and physical platforms
- Broad understanding of autonomous robotics stacks including perception, localization, planning, controls, vehicle interfaces, and operator-facing systems
- Strong programming skills in modern C++ and Python, with ability to understand and debug unfamiliar components across large software stacks
- Hands-on experience with Linux-based robotic or embedded systems, networking, middleware such as ROS 2 or comparable technologies, and deployment on target hardware
- Strong understanding of software interfaces, distributed system behavior, timing, synchronization, observability, and failure analysis
- Experience with simulation, software-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop, system integration rigs, and vehicle or robot-level testing
- Proven track record in robust software development practices including automated testing, CI/CD, reproducible deployments, and system-level verification
- Outstanding troubleshooting and triaging skills for problems spanning multiple components or engineering disciplines
- Strong technical communication abilities to distill action items from complex discussions and translate them into team priorities
- Fluency in both German and English
- Player-coach mindset with high ownership, pragmatic approach, and comfort working across organizational and technical boundaries in fast-paced environments
