Agilent is seeking an Automation Controls Engineer to join our team in Frederick, Colorado. This full-time position offers the opportunity to design, develop, and optimize automation systems that power our manufacturing and laboratory operations.

What This Role Involves

As an Automation Controls Engineer, you'll take ownership of developing and maintaining sophisticated automation solutions. You'll work across electrical and mechanical systems to create efficient, reliable control architectures that meet our operational needs. Your contributions will directly impact product quality, production efficiency, and safety across our facility.

Core Duties

  • Design and develop automation control systems for manufacturing and laboratory equipment
  • Develop, test, and troubleshoot PLC programs and control logic
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and production teams to integrate automation solutions
  • Perform system commissioning, validation, and optimization
  • Maintain and upgrade existing automation systems and infrastructure
  • Document system designs, specifications, and operational procedures
  • Support production teams with automation-related troubleshooting and improvements

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
  • Demonstrated experience designing and programming PLC-based control systems
  • Strong knowledge of automation software platforms and industrial control protocols
  • Proficiency with electrical schematics, ladder logic, and structured text programming
  • Solid understanding of industrial electrical systems and motor control
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across engineering and production teams
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
