Founding Lead Engineer — AI & Workflow Automation

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential venture studio client in Berlin that is building a new company from the ground up. This is a rare founding-team position for an engineer who wants to build the first version of a product addressing workforce engagement and automation in the DACH market.

You will work directly with experienced venture operators and have the opportunity to transition into a Technical Co-Founder role as the product gains traction. This role combines hands-on engineering with genuine ownership and entrepreneurial upside.

Responsibilities

• Build the first version of the product independently, from architecture through deployment
• Design and implement AI-powered automation for multi-step workflows involving candidate engagement, qualification, and matching
• Develop conversational interfaces and integrate messaging platforms into the core product
• Connect third-party APIs, databases, and existing software systems used in recruitment operations
• Validate assumptions quickly with real users and iterate based on conversion and workflow improvement
• Make architectural and product decisions with a focus on removing manual work and improving outcomes
• Collaborate with venture studio teams across product, growth, and go-to-market

What We're Looking For

• Strong full-stack engineering capabilities with a track record of shipping products independently
• Hands-on experience deploying LLM or AI-agent features in production environments
• Demonstrated ability to automate complex, real-world workflows that involve multiple systems and human touchpoints
• Comfort integrating APIs, databases, messaging tools, and third-party platforms
• Product mindset: you evaluate technology choices based on user impact, not just technical elegance
• High ownership and entrepreneurial ambition, whether from founding experience, early-stage roles, freelancing, or technical operations
• Familiarity with the DACH market; German language skills strongly preferred
• Bonus: experience with recruitment tech, HR systems, ATS/CRM platforms, WhatsApp automation, voice AI, workflow automation tools, matching algorithms, marketplaces, or workflow-heavy SaaS
