About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential technology client seeking a Principal Applied Scientist to join their distributed team. This is a remote position based in the United States, offering the opportunity to work on cutting-edge machine learning systems that serve enterprise customers at scale.
Our talent team is looking for an accomplished data science leader who can bridge the gap between research and production, turning innovative algorithms into real-world solutions that deliver measurable business value.
Responsibilities
- Invent, implement, and deploy state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms and systems across multiple domains
- Build prototypes and explore conceptually new solutions to complex customer problems
- Collaborate with cross-functional science, engineering, and product teams to identify customer needs and create scalable solutions
- Design and execute experiments to research new algorithms and optimize risk, profitability, and customer experience
- Develop cloud-based AI services including decision support, anomaly detection, forecasting, and recommendation systems
- Apply expertise in natural language processing (NLP), natural language understanding (NLU), time series analysis, automatic speech recognition (ASR), and computer vision (CV)
- Create models and experiments that pave the way for innovative products and services
- Drive model implementations from research findings to production-scale deployments
- Address ethical considerations in applied science work
What We're Looking For
- Principal-level experience in applied machine learning and data science
- Strong background in developing and deploying ML/AI systems for enterprise applications
- Expertise in multiple domains: NLP, NLU, time series forecasting, computer vision, or ASR
- Proven ability to build cloud services that work out of the box for enterprise customers
- Track record of taking research from prototype to production at scale
- Experience designing and running rigorous scientific experiments
- Strong collaborative skills working across science, engineering, and product teams
- Deep understanding of ethical considerations in AI and machine learning
- Ability to create novel solutions and drive innovation on behalf of customers
