Medical Director, Clinical Program Design

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential virtual care platform seeking a Medical Director, Clinical Program Design to lead protocol development and quality assurance across their growing network. This is a remote, US-based role offering the chance to shape how modern telehealth programs deliver care at scale.

You'll own the clinical protocols that power on-demand, urgent, and convenience care programs—writing, refining, and translating them into operational logic. You'll also build and lead a quality assurance program that leverages AI to measure outcomes and drive continuous improvement across a nationwide clinician network.

Responsibilities

• Develop, update, and maintain clinical protocols for virtual care programs; integrate them across partner organizations and ensure they scale effectively
• Lead the clinical quality assurance program, incorporating AI tools to enable scalability and translating findings into actionable network feedback
• Design frameworks and procedures to track patient and clinical outcomes, using data to iterate and improve care delivery
• Manage clinical patient-safety escalation protocols and active escalations to maintain consistent clinical standards
• Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams as clinical tools and platforms are developed

What We're Looking For

Required:

• MD or DO from an accredited institution, board-certified in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine (primary care experience preferred)
• Substantial clinical practice experience including virtual care or telemedicine delivery
• Prior clinical leadership experience managing teams in telehealth, digital health, or high-volume virtual practice settings
• Hands-on experience building, running, or auditing clinical quality assurance programs
• Demonstrated experience authoring and maintaining clinical protocols
• Basic proficiency with AI tools and software
• Active medical license in good standing in one or more US states
• Ability to pass NCQA credentialing and standardized background checks
• Data-driven mindset with comfort reasoning from dashboards, cohorts, and outcomes metrics
• Passion for the evolution of medicine—new evidence, modalities, and care models

Preferred but not required:

• Experience integrating AI or automation into clinical quality or protocol workflows
• Comfort with EHR configuration, clinical decision support, or point-of-care tooling
• Multi-state medical licensure
• ABOM Certification or expertise in cardio-metabolic conditions

Pay

Pay via Get A Job.ai: $250,000 - $290,000 plus 15% bonus. Final compensation is determined by factors including scope of responsibilities, experience, education, location, and market conditions.
