Senior Mechanical HVAC Engineer

Ramboll is seeking a Senior Mechanical HVAC Engineer for a full-time position based in Syracuse, New York. In this role, you'll lead the design, analysis, and implementation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems that support the built environment across the region.

Role Overview

As a Senior Mechanical HVAC Engineer at Ramboll's Syracuse, New York office, you'll take ownership of complex mechanical systems projects from conception through completion. This position offers the opportunity to apply your expertise in HVAC design to meaningful infrastructure and building projects while collaborating with a multidisciplinary engineering team.

Your Responsibilities

• Design and specify HVAC systems for commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings
• Perform thermodynamic calculations, load analysis, and system modeling to optimize performance
• Prepare technical specifications, construction documents, and design drawings
• Lead coordination with architects, structural engineers, and building systems specialists
• Ensure designs meet applicable building codes, energy standards, and regulatory requirements
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and support staff
• Support project delivery through documentation, submittal review, and site coordination

What You Bring

• Professional Engineering (PE) license in New York or ability to obtain one
• Minimum 8+ years of experience in mechanical HVAC engineering design
• Proficiency with HVAC design software, CAD platforms, and building information modeling (BIM) tools
• Strong understanding of mechanical codes, ASHRAE standards, and energy compliance requirements
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and lead technical teams
• Excellent communication skills and experience collaborating across disciplines
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
