Senior Software Engineer, Backend

We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend to join their engineering organization and help architect mission-critical systems that move money at scale.

This role offers the opportunity to work on complex problems in payments, ledgering, and card processing while having significant ownership over large technical domains. You'll be joining a small, high-performing team where your work will have immediate and lasting impact.

Location: Remote (Brazil, Canada, USA)

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver large domains and features related to card processing, issuing, and core financial transaction ledgering
• Design and build well-architected services and data models that support continued platform growth and scale
• Solve problems end-to-end including API contracts, data modeling, scalability, security, observability, and metrics
• Lead by example and mentor other engineers across planning, development, and testing practices
• Drive adoption of best-in-class technology frameworks and tooling while staying current with industry trends
• Participate in on-call rotation with expectation to troubleshoot and resolve production issues
• Contribute to technical architecture decisions and project prioritization using data-driven approaches

What We're Looking For

• Four or more years of relevant industry experience shipping high-quality products and features at scale
• Strong proficiency in NodeJS and TypeScript with deep understanding of server design principles
• Experience with architectural patterns for highly available, scalable, low-latency, asynchronous systems
• Hands-on experience with modular monoliths and microservices, understanding the tradeoffs of each approach
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate multiple technical directions and articulate tradeoffs clearly
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to collaborate across teams
• Track record of building and shipping complex working projects or products
• High standards for yourself and your team with strong ownership mentality
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced, execution-focused environment
