The Opportunity

As a Senior Software Engineer at CCM, you'll take ownership of high-impact technical initiatives that span multiple systems and teams. This role combines deep technical expertise with leadership responsibility—you'll design solutions for scale, influence long-term engineering direction, and develop engineers at all levels. Operating across a platform that serves customers throughout all 50 states, D.C., and Puerto Rico, your contributions directly influence the success of a 9,000-person organization.

Responsibilities

• Direct the design and delivery of complex software systems across multiple applications and services.
• Shape architectural decisions and define technical strategy for engineering initiatives.
• Coach junior and mid-level engineers on system design, implementation practices, and professional growth.
• Evaluate code quality through comprehensive reviews and uphold engineering standards across teams.
• Align engineering efforts with product and design priorities to ensure cohesive delivery.
• Identify technical obstacles, scalability constraints, and performance risks early.
• Champion engineering best practices and operational excellence within and across teams.
• Engineer reusable services, libraries, and abstractions that improve team velocity.
• Analyze and eliminate performance bottlenecks in production systems.
• Strengthen CI/CD pipelines, automated testing infrastructure, and monitoring capabilities.
• Create and maintain system documentation for long-term knowledge retention.
• Contribute to capacity planning, effort estimation, and risk assessment.
• Drive resolution of technical debt and long-term architecture improvements.
• Support reliability, availability, and performance objectives for mission-critical services.
• Foster an inclusive, collaborative engineering culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
• 6–10 years building and shipping production software systems.
• Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers and leading technical conversations.
• Hands-on expertise architecting scalable, distributed systems.
• Proficiency in multiple core technologies (JavaScript/Node,.NET, cloud platforms, SQL and NoSQL databases).
• Proven ability to debug complex issues, design systems, and optimize performance.
• Experience building backend services and REST/API architectures.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity, drive consensus, and deliver consistently.
• Understanding of agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and secure coding principles.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
