About This Opportunity
Our talent team is representing a confidential healthcare organization seeking a Prior Authorization Specialist to join their operations. This remote position offers the opportunity to work with a team dedicated to ensuring patients receive timely access to critical medications and supplies through efficient authorization processes.
This is a full-time role with consistent weekday hours (Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM MST), providing work-life balance while supporting essential healthcare services across the United States.
Responsibilities
- Initiate, process, and oversee clinical review of prior authorization requests for medications and supplies, ensuring compliance with payer requirements and clinical guidelines
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to gather necessary clinical information and documentation to support authorization submissions
- Submit prior authorization requests accurately and timely using electronic platforms and established protocols
- Perform all prior authorization functions with a comprehensive understanding of pharmacy benefits and authorization workflows
- Maintain thorough documentation and follow-up on pending authorizations to ensure timely resolution
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or GED required; licensed/registered pharmacy technician credential preferred
- 1+ years of pharmacy experience required
- Healthcare or pharmacy-related knowledge essential
- Strong understanding of pharmacy terminology including sig codes, Roman numerals, and brand/generic medication names
- Basic math and analytical skills
- Intermediate typing and keyboard proficiency
- Excellent communication skills for working with providers, payers, and patients
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities
