About This Opportunity
Our talent team is representing a confidential outpatient behavioral health organization seeking a Substance Use Counselor for a remote position serving patients across the United States. This is a full-time role with early morning hours (Monday–Friday, 4:45 AM–1:15 PM) that supports a medication-assisted treatment program focused on opioid use disorder recovery.
Candidates must hold an active CADC-I, CADC, LCAS-A, LCAS, LCSW-A, LCSW, LCMHC-A, or LCMHC credential to be considered. This position offers excellent work/life balance with consistent weekday hours and no evenings or weekends.
Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate individual and group counseling sessions to patients in recovery from opioid use disorder
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including initial and follow-up assessments
- Document all patient care, treatment progress, and clinical incidents in a timely, clear, and compliant manner
- Co-facilitate group or family therapy sessions as assigned
- Evaluate patient needs and coordinate referrals to external programs or facilities when appropriate
- Deliver crisis intervention services to patients as needed
- Perform case management duties to ensure quality, individualized care
- Serve as a liaison between patients and referral sources
- Plan aftercare services for assigned patients transitioning from treatment
What We're Looking For
Required:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Active state license or certification: CADC-I, CADC, LCAS-A, LCAS, LCSW-A, LCSW, LCMHC-A, or LCMHC
- Previous experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings (outpatient, residential, or correctional)
- Familiarity with medication-assisted treatment (MAT) approaches, including methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone
- Experience conducting individual and group counseling focused on substance use recovery
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and relapse prevention techniques
- Strong documentation skills, maintaining clinical notes, treatment plans, and progress updates in compliance with state and federal guidelines (42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA)
- Experience collaborating in multidisciplinary teams with medical staff, case managers, and peer support specialists
Preferred:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in social or health services from an accredited institution with practicum experience
