Electrical Engineering Lead, Data Centers – Remote (U.S.)

We are representing a confidential infrastructure consulting firm seeking an Electrical Engineering Lead specializing in hyper-scale data centers. This is a fully remote position available throughout the United States, with occasional travel for client meetings and project milestones. Our client is a global leader in data center design, and this role offers significant opportunities for career advancement while working on high-profile projects for major technology clients worldwide.

The successful candidate will serve as Engineer of Record for complex electrical systems, leading technical client relationships and mentoring mid-level engineers. This is a hands-on, client-facing position that combines deep technical expertise with leadership responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement electrical systems for hyper-scale data centers, including medium and low-voltage power distribution, backup power systems, and emergency systems
• Develop and maintain electrical schematics, bills of materials, and installation drawings
• Ensure compliance with National Electric Code (NEC), International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards, and other industry regulations
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop specifications, design criteria, and project budgets
• Analyze electrical systems for load balancing, capacity planning, and power consumption optimization
• Monitor and maintain electrical systems, including preventative maintenance, testing, and repairs
• Develop electrical safety procedures and training programs for technical staff
• Act as Engineer of Record, approving and signing off on work
• Provide engineering budget estimates and schedules for large, complex projects
• Lead technical client relationships and contribute to business development efforts
• Mentor and provide specialized technical guidance to supporting staff
• Stay current with advancements in electrical engineering and data center technologies

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
• 10+ years of relevant experience in electrical design/engineering with focus on data center infrastructure
• Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) License
• Strong knowledge of NEC (NFPA70)
• Experience serving as Engineer of Record on complex projects
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships

Preferred Qualifications:

• 12+ years of electrical engineering experience focused on data centers or critical facilities
• Experience with building information modeling (BIM) software, specifically ACC Cloud
• Deep expertise in data center design criteria and industry standards
• Proven track record in business development and client engagement
• Creative problem-solving abilities with client experience enhancement focus
