AIT Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential aerospace engineering organization in Eching, Germany, that is actively working on critical European space missions. Our client seeks an experienced AIT Engineer to join their growing team and take ownership of assembly, integration, and testing activities for flight-ready space hardware.

This is a hands-on role where you'll work directly with qualification and flight hardware in cleanroom environments, ensuring that complex space systems meet the rigorous standards required for orbital missions. You'll be part of a collaborative engineering team contributing to the next generation of space technology.

Responsibilities

• Execute assembly, integration, and testing (AIT) activities for space hardware according to established procedures and industry best practices
• Maintain ISO8 cleanroom conditions throughout the entire AIT process
• Integrate thermal hardware including thermistors, thermostats, and related components
• Operate cranes and mechanical ground support equipment (MGSE) safely and responsibly
• Develop and prepare AIT procedures and operational documentation
• Create technical reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
• Coordinate with project partners on AIT activities and scheduling
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance AIT performance and efficiency
• Travel to test centers across Europe as needed

What We're Looking For

• M.Sc. or PhD in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related technical field
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in space manufacturing, engineering, or prototype environments
• 5+ years of management experience in production settings
• Strong familiarity with ESA and ECSS standards (highly desirable)
• Excellent English communication skills (written and oral); German is beneficial
• Proven ability to manage time effectively and meet demanding project deadlines
• Detail-oriented approach with strong problem-solving capabilities
• Quick learner able to grasp highly complex technical designs
• Team-oriented working style with solution-focused mindset
• Willingness to travel within Europe for testing activities
