About This Opportunity

We are representing a fast-growing technology client in their search for an Employment Counsel, Canada & International. This is a remote-first role open to candidates across Canada.

Our client operates in the martech space and is expanding their legal team to support employment matters across Canadian provinces and key international markets. You'll report to senior employment counsel leadership and work closely with People & Culture teams on the full employee lifecycle.

This role suits an employment lawyer with 3+ years of hands-on experience who wants broad ownership across advisory work, compliance, dispute resolution, and cross-functional projects in a global technology environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day employment law advisory support for all Canadian provinces, with additional support to jurisdictions such as the UK, Germany, Australia, and Singapore, coordinating with local outside counsel as needed
• Manage and resolve employment standards complaints, human rights complaints, and demand letters; support litigation strategy and outside counsel instruction where required
• Partner with People & Culture on workplace investigations, performance management, accommodations, leaves of absence, and terminations
• Draft and maintain employment agreements, policies, and handbooks across multiple jurisdictions
• Support employment-related compliance projects and initiatives as the organization scales, building sustainable processes for Legal and P&C teams
• Help stand up compliant employment frameworks in new markets to support international expansion
• Identify opportunities to use AI tools to improve the speed and quality of employment law advice, document drafting, research, and matter management

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 3+ years of relevant employment law experience, with some time at a law firm advising on Canadian employment matters and handling employment demands and litigation
• Called to the bar in at least one Canadian province (Ontario preferred) and in good standing
• Strong working knowledge of Canadian employment and human rights legislation, with ability to quickly get up to speed on multi-jurisdictional nuances
• Experience with other jurisdictions (US, UK, Australia, Singapore, Germany) is an asset
• Excellent judgment and ability to balance legal risk with practical, business-oriented advice
• Strong project management skills and comfort managing high volume of concurrent matters and stakeholders
• Clear, confident communicator who can distill complex legal issues into practical guidance for non-lawyers
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with evolving priorities
• Genuine curiosity about how AI tools can be applied to legal work, with willingness to learn and adopt new tools

About AI in This Role: Our client is incorporating AI tools into their Legal team workflows. You may use AI-assisted tools to accelerate legal research, draft memos and policies, summarize demand letters and complaints, build internal playbooks and templates, and support process improvement. You'll apply your legal judgment to review and validate all AI-assisted output.

Pay

The client offers base salary in the range of $114,400–$157,300 CAD, determined by experience, skills, and other factors. The role may also include eligibility for bonuses, equity awards, and comprehensive benefits including health coverage from day one, retirement savings, generous paid time off, mental health program access, work-from-home support, professional development funding, parental leave, and optional workspace memberships.
