VP of Finance

About This Opportunity

We are representing a rapidly growing educational technology organization in their search for a VP of Finance. Our client is transforming how technology supports learning at scale, and this role will build the financial infrastructure that enables their next phase of growth.

This is a senior leadership position reporting directly to the CEO. You will own the complete finance function and have direct visibility into every major business decision. This is a true seat at the leadership table, not a back-office role.

Location: United States (Remote or Hybrid options available)

Responsibilities

As the most senior finance leader, you will own:

• Financial Planning & Analysis: Company-wide forecasting, budgeting, and scenario modeling including cash runway, burn rate, headcount planning, and SaaS unit economics (ARR, GRR, NRR, CAC payback, LTV, gross margin)
• Board & Investor Relations: Monthly and quarterly board packages, investor updates, capital raise preparation, and diligence readiness
• Financial Operations: Ownership of the finance technology stack, month-end close processes, and system integrations across payroll, spend management, and revenue platforms
• Cash & Runway Management: Working capital execution, collections management, billing terms optimization, and early identification of risks and opportunities
• Accounting Oversight: Monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes; GAAP compliance including ASC 606 revenue recognition, deferred revenue treatment, and audit readiness
• Deal Support: Partnership with revenue teams on deal structuring, bookings optimization, discounting guardrails, and margin analysis

This is a hands-on role. You will be building models, closing books, running analysis, and presenting to the board yourself while also serving as the financial advisor to leadership.

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrated finance leadership experience building and owning the finance function from the ground up
• Track record scaling finance operations inside a SaaS business through multiple growth stages without relying on inherited processes
• Direct ownership of board and investor reporting—you've been the person in the room presenting the numbers
• Experience building financial systems and processes that can scale with organizational growth
• Hands-on approach and comfort operating in a lean environment where you execute work directly rather than delegating immediately
• Strong intuition around SaaS unit economics and what metrics matter at different stages of growth
• Ability to thrive in fast-moving environments where priorities shift and resourcefulness is essential
• CPA certification is a plus but not required
• Experience with K-12 or public sector revenue cycles is highly valuable
